Another Great Scottish Run Summary, almost half way

Last I wrote I was to go and do my 10 mile run on the Thursday. I had to organise a babysitter for the evening as I couldn’t run during the day, it was just too long a run to fit in amongst work commitments. When I got home I thought it was a bit too long to ask someone to watch the kids so I decided instead of doing a long 10 miler, I’d do a fast 10k. So off I went and ran a 10k @ 8:19 min/mi pace. This may not seem that quick considering my race time of approx 7:50 min/mi, but it was very hot on Thursday, the hottest day of the year, in the low 20’s anyway. The first 3 miles I averaged nearer 8:00 min/mi, but I slowed a bit on the back 3 as it’s mostly uphill.

Friday I got a needed rest day and on Saturday I managed to venture out at night for my 3 mile easy run. Again it was hot, and this time I’d had a couple of bottles of San Miguel before I ran! Bad move ! Not a good idea! I did this run in 8:30 min/mi pace.

Sunday I took as a rest day, although I was supposed to do 4 miles, I had to watch the kids who were all unwell. Ann was working and with no babysitting options I didn’t get a chance to go out.

Today I have another tempo session:

Tempo Run

Dist: 6mi; inc Warm; 4 mi@7:49; Cool

I did this run a couple of weeks ago, where I managed 6.99 miles with 4 @ 7:46 min/mi, so in theory it’s doable. But today again it’s very hot, and even though I’m leaving the run until this evening, I’m still worried about it.

Heh ho, lets see how I get on tonight.
